Community Nursing Home Port Hope has been an established long-term care home for over 30 years, Located in a beautiful, residential community in the Town of Port Hope, a short distance from the 401 and emergency medical services are minutes away at the Northumberland Hills Hospital.
An accredited community since 2000, and licensed by The Ministry of Health, Community Nursing Home Port Hope offers a warm, friendly and home like environment. A true sense of community is established through a dedicated and caring professional team.
Our multi-level home is designed for residents' comfort and provides easy access to all areas. Bedrooms - private and shared - are spacious and attractively decorated and feature en-suite bathrooms. Corridors are wide and accommodating. Residents can socialize and enjoy visits with family and friends in our comfortable lounges and private family room. They can also enjoy a breath of fresh air in our outside garden area, which features raised flowerbeds and a specially designed walking path. Our residents enjoy recreation programs, including summer barbecues; musical entertainment, intergenerational programs, bingo, shopping trips, and summer getaways to places such as the Blue Jays Game, Casino, and Toronto Zoo. Television, music, videos, portable library and Pet Therapy provide residents with many choices.
Community Nursing Home Port Hope enjoys strong community support. Based on our belief that residents continue to be valued citizens, we encourage them to take part in the life of Port Hope and invite people to become involved in our home. Our outings include visits to the local Marina to go fishing, local beaches and parks to enjoy an old fashion picnic, local farms and antique car shows, as well as shopping trips. Annual highlights are our Fall Colors Bus Tour which includes lunch amongst the colors and our Christmas Light Tour to Cobourg and Old Scugog Road .Our dedicated volunteers add much to the good times we have at summer barbecues, annual bazaars, shopping excursions, holiday dinners and celebrations. Children, local entertainers and clergy visit us regularly.
Our residents are valued members of our home's team. Our Residents' Council and Family Council provides the opportunity for residents and families to participate in planning and evaluating the services in the home and supports a strong line of communication between residents, family and administration.
